Moeller Fine Art is pleased to announce the exhibition "Lyonel Feininger: Drawings and Watercolors from the Julia Feininger Estate," which has opened in New York after a successful presentation in its Berlin gallery. The show includes 44 drawings and watercolors, which provide a fresh and comprehensive look at the diversity of the oeuvre of Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956). They trace the development of the artist’s style and visual motifs from his formative years in Paris to his success at the Bauhaus and return to his native New York in 1937.
The museum-quality exhibition runs through 28 October, and coincides with “Lyonel Feininger: At the Edge of the World,” the milestone retrospective at The Whitney Museum of American Art. For four years, Achim Moeller has been instrumental in advising the Whitney with the planning and realization of the retrospective.
Since the gallery opened in 1972, Moeller Fine Art has been closely linked to the name of Lyonel Feininger, and is the primary gallery for collectors and institutions seeking to purchase and sell works by the artist. Achim Moeller represents Lyonel Feininger Family Trusts and is Managing Principal of The Lyonel Feininger Project LLC, providing research and expertise concerning works attributed to the artist. Achim Moeller is preparing the three-volume catalogue raisonné of paintings by Lyonel Feininger.
A catalogue, including the most extensive Lyonel Feininger chronology published to date, will accompany the exhibition and is available for purchase at $45.
Viewing hours are Monday-Friday, 2-5pm. All works are for sale.
