Concurrent with our exhibition “Lyonel Feininger: Drawings and Watercolors from the Julia Feininger Estate” we are pleased to invite you to view our first online catalogue, “Lyonel Feininger: Rare Woodcuts from the Artist’s Personal Collection”:
The online catalogue features woodcuts which Lyonel Feininger created between 1918 and 1928, and considered the best examples of his graphic oeuvre. These works, which are being shown for the first time, reflect the varied aspects of the artist's creativity at pivotal moments in his career, and highlight the alternately whimsical, cubist, and prismatic elements for which he is celebrated.
As Roberta Smith wrote of Moeller Fine Art's exhibition in The New York Times on 29 July, 2011:
“On the occasion of the Feininger retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art, a gallery long involved with his career presents a parallel survey of works on paper from his widow’s estate. It compensates for some of the museum show’s shortcomings, most impressively with a gratifying profusion of small, lively woodcut prints from 1918-23 that will be unfamiliar to most viewers.”
All works are in pristine condition and are for sale in our New York gallery, subject to availability.
